What are glass seed beads

Seed beads are the tiny beads you see on many handmade-style bracelets. Glass seed beads are just that: very small beads made of glass.

Here is what to know before you choose.

What they are

Seed beads are small, round beads with a hole through the middle. When made of glass, they have a smooth, shiny surface and come in many colors.

Ours are about 2 mm across, so you need many of them to make a band.

How they look on a bracelet

Strung closely on stretch cord, the beads form a band about 5 mm wide. Colors blend into one another, so a mix of corals and sands looks like a sunset.

See the Glass Bead Stretch Bracelet, Coral Reef or the Ocean Blues.

What to know

Glass is a hard material, but beads can chip if they are knocked against a hard surface. Treat the bracelet gently, and keep it dry.

Our care notes: keep dry, take off for swimming and showers, and store flat.

Where you will find them in our shop

Glass is the main material in several pieces. The Beaded Stack Set of 4 uses glass beads with tin alloy details, and the Glass Bead Choker Necklace uses larger 8 mm (0.31 in) glass beads with zinc alloy metal parts.

Each product page lists the material under Materials and size, so you always know what you are buying. The glass bead bracelets are strung on stretch cord and come in small, medium or large.
