Bracelets and the beach: when to take them off

It is tempting to wear a beach bracelet right into the sea. Our advice is simple: take it off for swimming.

Here is why, and what to do instead.

Before you swim

Take off bracelets and anklets before you go in the water. Water and salt are hard on stretch cord and on finishes.

Tuck them into a pouch or a bag so they do not get lost in the sand.

Sunscreen and lotion

Put on sunscreen and lotion first, let them dry, then put your jewelry on.

This keeps oils and creams off the beads.

After the beach

Wipe each piece with a soft dry cloth to remove sand and salt. Let it dry in the air before you store it flat.

See the Shell Bead Anklet, the Glass Bead Stretch Bracelet, Ocean Blues and the Coral Reef for their care notes.

Easy habits for beach days

Pick one pocket in your beach bag and always put your jewelry there. A small zip pouch is ideal, and it keeps beads from rolling out in the sand.

If you want something to wear in the water, leave the beaded pieces at home. Choose them for dinner or the walk back instead, when the sun is going down.

Our care notes are the same on every product page: keep dry, take off for swimming and showers, and store flat. They apply to the Gold-Tone Ball Bead Bracelet just as they do to the glass bead bracelets.
